How To Celebrate Afternoon Tea Week

It’s Afternoon Tea Week (14th – 20th August)! What better to celebrate this delicious British tradition than sitting back and indulging in bite-sized treats. Whether you choose to explore the huge range of afternoon teas in the city or invite family and friends over to enjoy homemade scones, sandwiches and salted caramel banana cupcakes, we have rounded up the perfect way to celebrate…

Fortnum & Mason Afternoon Tea

If you’re looking for a traditional afternoon tea, Fortnum’s has all the answers! Tables are covered in crisp white linen and duck-egg blue chinaware, sparkling chandeliers hang from the ceiling and smartly dressed waiters tend to your every need, all in the beautiful setting of the swanky tea salon. Tea includes finger sandwiches filled with rare breed hen eggs and cress; rare roast beef with Café de Paris butter; coronation chicken; and smoked salmon with chive-infused cream cheese. Follow with scones, petit fours and of course, a perfectly brewed pot of tea.

Sketch Afternoon Tea

In a pretty, powder-pink setting complete with David Shrigley’s artwork covering the walls, The Gallery at Sketch is the perfect setting for a girly afternoon tea. Tables are laden with caviar, quail egg sandwiches, pastries, macaroons and an assortment of cakes, Champagne and of course tea, 40 different brews in fact!

Dorchester’s Ice Cream Champagne Afternoon Tea

As well as indulging in finger sandwiches, cakes and scones, the Dorchester are offering afternoon tea with a twist, and by that I mean ice cream! With an array of delicious homemade crispy cones filled with blackberry mojito sorbet, honeycomb and strawberry basil sorbet, clotted cream and cherry. And not forgetting a glass of bubbly to add to the tasty mix.
