Yes, we are talking about THE Rachel Karen Green of our favourite 90’s sitcom, Friends. I won’t bore you with background information on Jennifer Aniston’s character, instead we’ll skip right ahead to the part where Ross and Rachel have a baby. Well, just before that really… Rachel’s Pregnancy.
From her tees and tracksuits to her slinky slip dresses, and of course the tartan mini skirts that we all wish we looked as good in, Rachel Green undoubtedly delivers the shows most iconic 90’s outfits (it helps that her character worked at Bloomingdales and then Ralph Lauren). Come Season 8, pregnant Green’s style starts to change/adapt (naturally)… Tartan mini skirts become stretchy midis, crop tops turn into loose fitting blouses and then there’s our favourite part, the “nine months in and given up on any attempt at looking put together” look. Think: Unintentional crop top, a skirt that fits when worn below bump and a side of heart burn!
Even at the best of times, I can say with full confidence that I haven’t met a mother or mother-to-be that didn’t at some point struggle with dressing themselves whilst pregnant (and more often that not, opted for the fourth day of leggings and an oversized sweatshirt).
Here, we bring you a few ideas inspired by Rachel for simply getting dressed in the morning (with bump in tow):
