The UK’s only group of authentic Greek restaurants, has added Vegan Meatballs to their Filoxenia Dinner Menu for World Vegan Month (November)… The menu (available year-round) celebrates authentic Greek hospitality and offers a complete meal, mixing and matching four dishes for just £12.95. Partnering with Hellenic Hope, a UK charity that helps kids-at-risk in Greece, The Real Greek is supporting the organisation through this particular menu.

SERVES: 6
INGREDIENTS:
Vegan Meat 1kg
Spring onion 150g finely chopped
Mint 7g finely chopped
Anatolian or dried Greek spice mix 7g
Cumin ground 2g
- Mix the Vegan Meat with Spring onion, mint, Anatolian Greek spices and Cumin
- Mould into 30g portions with oiled clean hands/gloves.
Tomato Sauce Soutzoukakia ingredients:
Tomato Gianhi
White onion 750g
EVOO 40ml
Salt 5g
Black Pepper 3g
Garlic puree 10g
Sweet paprika 6g
Rosemary 4g
Sage 80g
Tomato Melina or passata 2kg
Bay leaf 4g
Thyme 4g
METHOD:
Blitz onion, garlic, rosemary and sage into a smooth paste. Place it to the big pot, add the salt, Tomato Melina or passata, bay leaf, thyme, water and cook for 45min
When finish cooking add: paprika, EVOO, and black pepper while hot mix well and serve.
Place the Vegan Meatballs – Soutzoukakia on medium heat grill for approx. 2 mins each side or until nicely marked.
Then add the Vegan Meatballs Soutzoukakia to hot tomato gianhi with cumin and simmer for 3 mins then serve as seen.
